
In 1994, doctors told Jim Lunder he had probably five years to live.
Today, the longtime Mentor-on-the-Lake resident, now 66, survives thanks to a life-saving heart transplant he received in August, 2009.
"I've never felt this good," Lunder said. "Every day is like an extra day I get to live."
But Lunder remembers when his future seemed bleak. Diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, the condition continued to grow worse, peaking in 2008 when he suffered from palpitations.
