Indiana sees uptick in organ donation registration because of Facebook initiative

Facebook’s new organ donation initiative is already benefiting Central Indiana.

Facebook added the feature earlier this week. It allows users to show their organ donation status or to sign up in their state to become an organ donation.

Officials from the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization said 155 people signed up to be donors May 1. On May 2, almost 300 people registered. Usually, officials only see about 10 people a day sign up in the state.
