KSTP TV Minneapolis
Army Ranger and Rosemount native Ben Kopp was honored Sunday during ABC's broadcast of the Indianapolis 500. The network featured a tribute from his mother at Arlington National Cemetery.

Corporal Ben Kopp died on July 10, 2009, after being shot in the leg by a sniper in Hhelmand Province, Afghanistan. The 23 year-old had already served two tours in Iraq.

Kopp lost a lot of blood and while in the operating room and went into cardiac arrest. His mom, Jill Stephenson remembers her last conversation with her son, her only child, nine days earlier. She says they last thing he said to her was that he loved her.
