Fairway Markets, the Vancouver Island grocery chain, presented the David Foster Foundation with a cheque for $86,817 on Friday.
The foundation provides financial support to Canadian families with children who are in need of organ transplants and advocates for organ donations.
The cost of supporting a child who needs a transplant is on average $10,000, said Mel Cooper, honorary director of the foundation.
"All the money that's coming from this and all the money we raised with the gala weekend is going to support families," Cooper said. "Now that the David Foster Foundation has grown to be a national foundation, we can take care of families all across the country."
Last Saturday, the foundation celebrated its 25th year of supporting families with a star-studded gala at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
