Georgina is setting the example for other municipalities when it comes to promoting organ donation, says the founder of the local Gift of Life Association.

“We are so pleased with the outcome of the meeting and the town’s leadership in adding BeADonor.ca to its website,” says Keswick resident and founder of the York Region chapter of the association, who made a deputation to council Monday night along with her sister, Heather Higgins, seeking town support for organ donation awareness and online registration.

As a result of their presentation Monday night, Georgina will be the first municipality in the region to post the BeADonor.ca website link on its town website.

“By doing so, they are setting an important example for other towns and cities in York Region to follow, and showcasing their support of this cause. The more support we receive for this cause and the more opportunities we provide people to register, the more lives we can save,” she added.
