Five area residents are brought together by one thing: they are all heart transplant recipients.
In order to promote awareness of becoming an honor donor and the organization, LifeGift; the transplant recipients will show their pride marching for the first time in the annual Fourth of July Parade in Kingwood July 4.
Heart transplant recipients Randy Creech, Kevin Spencer, Esmeralda Miranda, Retha Jones and Michael Leon are all set to hand out pamphlets and pencils as well as candy for the younger parade watchers.
Fellow heart recipient Bob Atteberry, current Kingwood Middle School principal, was also invited to participate in the parade but had prior plans.
“We have all known each other for a little while so we thought the Fourth of July parade would be the best opportunity to let people know about LifeGift and that there are people every day who need life-saving organ transplants,” Creech said.
The transplant recipients all gathered June 18 to discuss their plans for the parade and pass out their matching shirts which they will wear as they walk the parade route.
