About a year and a half ago, Dunnville resident Andrea Clegg got a new heart, and with it, a new lease on life
On Saturday, June 16, for the second year in a row, Clegg’s mom, Carol Morningstar, went skydiving at the Niagara Skydive Centre Inc. in Dunnville to help raise awareness for organ and tissue donation, as well as to raise funds to support organ donation.
“I didn’t want to do a bake sale or a walk-a-thon, so I decided to skydive,” said Morningstar.
“She wanted to do something extraordinary for the extraordinary gift I had been given,” said Clegg.
The funds raised will go to Toronto General and Western Foundation (TGWF) to help support other transplant patients.
“It’s incredible to see families who want to give back after they’ve been through such a challenging situation themselves,” said Jodi Frers with TGWF. “They’re using their experiences to help transfer the care to others in the years to come,” she said, adding that this was certainly “a different kind of fundraiser; a fun way to engage in the community.”
