St. Mary's of Michigan holds Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony honoring organ donors and recipients

M Live
SAGINAW, MI — Dan Meyerholt hugged his mother, Sally Meyerholt, during a Donate Life Flag Raising Ceremony in front of St. Mary's of Michigan hospital, 800 S. Washington in Saginaw, today.

The Meyerholts were honoring Karl F. Meyerholt Jr., Sally's husband, who died in a
motorcycle crash in October 2007. After Karl Meyerholt died, his family donated his organs "so others could live," said Sally Meyerholt. "It will be five years in October. Karl really enjoyed life. We still miss him very much."

Prior to the flag-raising ceremony, a service honoring families of organ donors and organ recipients took place in the St. Mary's Hospital Chapel. Several dozen people attended the ceremony.
