THE grief of losing a child is something Thornleigh resident Graham Harrison knows only too well.
When he waved to his 10-year-old son Ben from the driveway for what he thought would be a routine operation he didn’t know it would be the last time he would see him awake.
After the surgery, doctors told him there had been a “complication”.
“As Ben lay in intensive care, I forced back the despair and tried to think positively,” he said. ” The doctor took me aside. He had done everything possible, he gently explained, but the gauges indicated that Ben’s brain was dying.”
He was then presented with the toughest decision of his life.
