Colby Salerno, 23, could leave the hospital on Sunday, for the first time in six months.
After lliving at Hartford Hospital for six months, waiting for a new heart, Colby Salerno, 23, will be able to go home on Sunday.
On Tuesday, May 29, Salerno received the heart of Jesus Vega, 18, according to Vega's sister, Brittany.
Jesus Vega was injured after playing basketball in Bristol last week and he died on Monday night. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Vega's death.
Colby's first words after surgery were, "I'm going to make my donor proud," his parents said during a news conference the day after Colby received the new heart.
"I feel excellent," he said in a video the hospital released on Wednesday.
