MOTHER-of-two Samantha Hawley has hardly been in good health since she had a kidney transplant six years ago.
She has developed a related disorder which leaves her tired and aching all over her body.
But at least the 38-year-old is now free of the pain and drudgery of needing to spend four hours at a time on a hospital dialysis machine three times a week.
And she admits that without the new kidney – donated by younger brother Mathew Dickenson – she would not even be around to tell the tale.
That is why Samantha, of Russell Street, Leek, believes as many people as possible should mark this National Transplant Awareness week by carrying donor cards.
She said: "Life has hardly been a bed of roses since my transplant but that saved my life and has at least given me a fighting chance to beat the other condition I have since come down with.
