ST CHARLES, MO- (June, 26, 2012) The National Kidney Foundation is giving people with kidney disease a better shot! The NKF Cadillac Golf Classic Tournament was held at the Whitmoor Country Club on June, 26, 2012. The tournament called attention to the prevention of kidney disease and the need for organ donation. A total of 88 golfers participated in the event and four will continue on to the NKF Cadillac Golf Classic National Finals in Pebble Beach in January 2013, including Jim Reichert with Jack Schmitt Cadillac, Michael Leopold with Huntleigh Investments, Brian Adrian with Plumbers & Pipe Fitters 101, and Leo Dumstorff. Those who attended spent a beautiful day on the golf course, ate delicious food and had the opportunity to participate in a silent and live auction.
Seventy-eight cents of every dollar raised at the tournament helps support NKF’s vital program for awareness, treatment and prevention such as:·Patient and community services for early detection screenings and to support patients and families living with kidney disease.
·Education initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and need for organ donation.
·Professional education programs to ensure health professionals continue learning the latest in kidney disease clinical treatment.
·Patient advocacy to make patients’ voices heard through legislative action.
Diabetes and high blood pressure are the two main causes for chronic kidney disease and are responsible for up to two-thirds of cases of CKD. Twenty-six million Americans have CKD and another 73 million are at risk. The National Kidney Foundation is dedicated to preventing kidney and urinary tract diseases, improving the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by kidney disease and raising awareness to reduce risk.
