Elen's organs helped save lives of five other people - UK

Denbighshire Free Press | Kristie Dolphin
A SELFLESS mother, who died after a tragic fall, continues to benefit the world after her organs saved the lives of five people.

Ruthin teacher Elen Meirion, 43, died after suffering a severe head injury from falling downstairs at her home in Rhewl.

Elen’s 15-year-old daughter Gwenllian wrote a speech for her school last year about the importance of being on the organ donor list, which was read out at Elen’s funeral in April.

Keeping true to Elen’s wish, Gwenllian bravely worked with Glan Clwyd’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) staff to donate five of her mother’s organs, which saved the lives of five people.

Gwenllian’s dad and Elen’s former husband Rob Boyns undertook a triathalon challenge on Saturday, July 14 to raise money for the hospital’s ICU unit.
