Organ Donors Needed

The first Donate Life Nebraska Trail Run and Heroes Walk Saturday honored families who have given organs and tissues of loved ones to benefit those in need.

Nearly 500 people are on the waiting list in Nebraska for a lifesaving organ transplant. The fundraiser held at Tranquility Park in Omaha was a step toward hopefully lowering that number. Signs around the park acknowledged donor families.

Bruce Prenosil of Omaha received a heart transplant three years ago and runs to bring attention to the cause. "I see so many people in the hospital. I go up and I see people at the Med Center all the time that have had heart transplants and so I want to do this so if they're watching then they can say if he can do it, I can do it.”
