For the past 10 months the Australian Federal Police officer has been hoping it will be that all-important call that will save his life.
And while it hasn't happened yet, the WA father is positive it will happen soon.
Peter suffers from primary sclerosing cholangitis - a progressive disease which affects the bile ducts of the liver.
In many cases it is manageable but in severe cases, such as Peter's, it is life-threatening.
After living relatively normally with the condition for several years, last November he took a turn for the worse and was immediately placed on the liver transplant list.
Doctors have told the father of three he now has up to two years to live.
