Racing: Gase family meets recipient of late mother’s organ donation

Jordan Shaw wrote a letter to Joey Gase last year. Shaw wanted to show his appreciation for the organ donation that allowed him to receive a much needed kidney from Gase’s mom, Mary Jo Gase, who died last April after suffering a sudden brain aneurysm at the age of 44.

Gase responded and invited Shaw to the NASCAR Nationwide Series U.S. Cellular 250 Saturday at Iowa Speedway. In an emotional exchange, Gase, along with his yiounger sister, Ashley, met Shaw, getting a first-hand look at a life their late mother was able to help.
