Mark Myers of Gulfport is scheduled to have a liver transplant on August 27th. His daughter is giving him the vital organ he needs to survive. And South Mississippians are showing the family it's not in this fight alone.
Folks gathered at Big Mike's Speakeasy in Gulfport Saturday to support Billi Myers and her father.
"My dad has end stage liver disease. He's been in a lot of pain and very sick for about a year and I've been taking care of him. In just being his daughter, of course, and knowing that about 20 percent of people that get on a transplant list, they die while they're waiting on the list," Myers said.
That's a risk Billie Myers refused to take. After various tests proved Myers would be a perfect donor match for her dad, she didn't think twice.
