The Benefits Of Cornea Donation

News Day | Mitzi Fitzgerald

Each and every living being is subjected to death. The saying that no one is immortal justifies the significance of this fact. Cornea donation is a practice only possible after the demise of an individual. It makes more sense especially when performed after the death of the donor, as they have no longer value for their body parts.

Offering to donate a part of your eyes is not a big deal. It only calls for one to get into terms with an eye bank and sign a consent form. It is advisable that the donor signs an agreement form before his or her death without coercing with any one. One has to give a confirmation that this was his will and that no one was involved in influencing the decision apart from one self. Ones you get into such an agreement, it is worth informing the family members and relatives to avoid future confusions.

The cornea, as the heart of the eye is a very important component. It greatly determines the worth of an eye. Once damaged, the eyes of a person cease to be of much help. Taking good care of these structures should thus not be left unobserved. Even those who plan to offer their eyes for a transplant after their death should take good care of these structures.
