His six-year-old son, Cameron, arrived home from school, and the first question the youngster asked his father was, “Did you get a new heart today, daddy?”
“No, not today,” his father replied. “But I will get one soon.”
James Murrell, of Munford, was not suppose to live through adolescence but now, at 37, he is hoping for a gift of life.
“I was born with a transposition of the great vessels,” said Murrell, who is married and has two children.
At six-months-old, Murrell became the youngest person to undergo heart surgery in 1975.
Doctors predicted he would not survive through childhood. Thankfully, they were wrong.
