Chester-le-Street mum tells how she is determined to live her life to the full after receiving a new heart at Newcastle's Freeman Hospital

Mum Louise Mclellan feared she would never see her little girl grow up after a complex heart condition caused her body to shut-down.

Suffering multi-organ failure, doctors put the mum onto the transplant waiting list in a desperate bid to find her a new heart, and save her life.

After six weeks not knowing if she would live or die, the 45-year-old was given the news she had been waiting for - a heart had been found.

Today, Louise told how she is determined to life every day of her life to the full in celebration of the second chance she has been given.

She said: “For so long, it was doubtful I would get to see my daughter turn into a teenager.

“That has been the biggest change for me - the chance to see her grow up, get married and become an adult has been life-changing.”

Louise, of Chester-le-Street, was born with a complex congenital heart disorder in 1970. Continue reading
