Value of life limitless as family of teen drowning victim donates organs

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – For 12-year-old Janyia Robinson, some would say her life was cut short last week, but her father and grandfather say she's even more alive, telling WHAS 11 every vital organ except her brain can and are being donated.

This point the Robinson family has reached--has not come without pain.

Janyia's grandfather Eddie Rice and her father Eddie Robinson were the first to discover Janyia July 14, they say she had been swimming that day in her backyard with some younger cousins and they believe she went to put the tarp back over the pool, fell and got tangled inside.

"I accepted that she's gone to a better place." I kept pulling the tarp and I just said something is in this tarp and it just didn't feel right," Eddie Rice, Janyia's Grandfather said.

"He kept pulling – kept pulling and her leg popped out," Eddie Robinson, Janyia's father added. Continue reading
