Boone mother searching for kidney for her son

Boone mother is using every road she travels to find her son a kidney.

Janelle Williams knew from the day her now 9-year-old son, Izaiah, was born that he would one day need a kidney transplant. Izaiah was born with a condition that causes reflux from his bladder to one of his kidneys.

Since birth, Izaiah has undergone nine surgeries as a result of his condition, and now his one good kidney is failing.

He has been on the donor list for one year and recently, Janelle stuck a large decal on the back window of her vehicle that reads, “Blood type A+ son. 9 Desperately needs KIDNEY! Please call 515-460-1966.”

“I wanted to step it up a notch and really get it out there,” Janelle said of putting the decal on her vehicle.

She also posted a picture of the decal on Facebook, which has been shared more than 3,000 times. Many people have signed up to see if they are a matching donor, but Janelle said it has been difficult to find a donor who will be compatible with the antibodies Izaiah has from blood transfusions.
