Victor Harbor's Jo Lines (pictured with her 10-month-old son, Alex) received a kidney from an anonymous donor in 2012, and has since recovered and started a family with her husband, James.

Following DonateLife Week 2015, Victor Harbor's Jo Lines has shared her story of organ donation, and urged others to consider giving the ultimate gift.

The Australian Organ and Tissue Authority is also encouraging people to consider becoming an organ and tissue donor, potentially saving the lives of more than 10 people.

According to the authority, there are about 1600 Australians waiting for organ or tissue donations at any one time.

In late 2009, Jo's name was added to that waiting list.
