THE revelation that a law that will allow kidney transplants to be carried out in Fiji is with the Solicitor-General's office is bound to raise interest.

As our report on Page 1 reveals, Health Minister Jone Usamate said the move was welcomed by the Kidney Foundation of Fiji.

Administrator Pushp Chand said this was an achievement because without that legal entity, kidney transplants could not be done in Fiji.

The move, Mr Chand explained, would also allow them to sign a memorandum of agreement with the Land Transport Authority to have the kidneys of accident victims preserved so they could be used by kidney patients in the country.
