(ABC 6 News) -- A Wisconsin family has been waiting months at Mayo Clinic. A heart defect has left their one-year-old daughter with only one option, a heart transplant. The condition has the little girl dependent on machines and medical care, but her family is holding out hope for a miracle.
"I was so excited, I didn't believe it at first, until she was born," said Tara Grams reminiscing about when she found out her two sons would have a baby sister. "Very rambunctious, like her two brothers… she's a princess, everything's pink."
Aria was born on May 20th, 2014. She was a healthy baby girl until just a few days after he first birthday.
"It was terrifying. She had been acting a little sick that week, having these episodes twice a day and then she'd be totally find in-between… I had talked to doctors and took her in and she went in a few times and they said it just seemed like a viral infection," said Tara. "It was May 29th. She was having one of those episodes. I was home with my boys. Josh was at work and she was grunting and had what seemed to be a seizure and then she went completely unresponsive."
