Local doctors push to get 7-year-old new heart

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte area family has nearly lost their little boy three times because of a rare heart defect.

At 7 years old, Kyler desperately needs a heart transplant. And his doctors at Levine Children's Hospital are fighting to make that happen in a new way.

Little sister Adalyn clearly gets a kick out of it, but mom Alesha admits her heart races watching her 7-year-old son ride the dirt track in front of the family's home.

The biggest worry?

Kyler's own heart: "It got sick," he said.

It's stopped three times.

Kylers dad Shawn says, "We've been lucky three times, I don't want to push it no longer."
