Family Sees Silver Lining in Death of Young Son

LUBBOCK, TX - The Hardin family's trip to Dallas turned tragic, when their son died after falling into a backyard pool. But that didn't stop them from realizing the impact their four year old had.

Brolin Hardin died after being placed into a medically induced coma following a pool accident on October 3rd. His parents said they found him in the water, performed CPR, but he did not make it.

"It's been an awful thing. We never as parents expect to deal with the death of a child," said Becky Hardin, Brolin's mother.

John and Becky Hardin faced a difficult decision. They chose to donate their son's organs after his death.

"After the tests came back, and we concluded that he would not be in fact coming home with us, they were very quick to approach us and we were very quick to decide that organ donation was the right thing to do," John Hardin said. "The organ donation team, they approached us very quickly because time is of the essence, to keep his organs as healthy as possible." Continue reading
