The heartbroken mum of Dane Curran has issued a desperate plea for more people to sign up to the Organ Donor Register after her son’s generosity saved four lives.

Deirdre Curran, 55, faced every parent’s worst nightmare when her son was killed in a motorcycle accident.

Much-loved Dane, originally from Whitley Bay, was riding down to France when he was involved in a collision on the M11.

After the 21-year-old’s death, his distraught family were told he had signed up for the Organ Donor Register and gave the go ahead for doctors to use his organs.

Dane’s selflessness has since helped four others - potentially saving their lives - and now Deirdre is urging others to sign up.

She said: “Please do not just sit and think about it. Do it now so if it comes down to it, the loved ones you leave behind know what you wanted - it makes it so much easier if you know that. Continue reading
