PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Philadelphia-based National Disease Research Interchange (NDRI), the nation’s premier provider of human biospecimens to advance medical disease research, will celebrate its 35th anniversary with a recognition dinner, “Honoring Service to Science,” on October 30 at The Union League of Philadelphia.
Michael Vitez, Pulitzer-Prize winner journalist formerly with the Philadelphia Inquirer, will emcee the celebration, which includes presentation of NDRI’s inaugural Service to Science award, as well as awards for outstanding advocacy and to outstanding research donation partners.

As a highlight of the event, Meenhard Herlyn, DVM, DSc, of Philadelphia’s Wistar Institute and Chairman of the NDRI Board of Directors, will present the inaugural D. Walter Cohen, DDS, Service to Science Award to its namesake and NDRI chairman emeritus, Dr. Walter Cohen.
A Philadelphia native, Cohen was dean of the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine, president of the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and is chancellor emeritus of the Drexel University College of Medicine. He is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, and former chair of the Pennsylvania Diabetes Academy. Continue reading
