Larry Alman passionate about organ donation, receives Shining Star Award

GREENVILLE — Larry Alman is serious when it comes to organ and tissue donation.

Once a month he is at the Greenville Michigan Secretary of State and Montcalm County PLUS office urging people to join the state’s organ, tissue and eye donation program.

“You can enhance the lives of up to 50 people,” Alman said. “There’s six organs and many other tissues they can extract to save lives. About every 12 minutes someone’s going on the registry, nationwide, that needs an organ.”

His dedication to registering people on the Michigan Organ Donor Registry is why he was presented with the Secretary of State Shining Star Award on Wednesday. The award is given to individuals with exceptional dedication, outstanding support, partnership creation and extraordinary efforts in the area of organ and tissue donor awareness. Continue reading
