Moline High teacher's death touches many

K.C. Ervin-Griesenbeck, a beloved Moline High School teacher, died on Sunday.

Kathleen Celia (K.C.) Ervin-Griesenbeck -- a multitalented singer, musician, actress, director, and high-school teacher -- is being fondly remembered throughout the Quad-Cities following her death at age 44.

A Moline High School teacher of English, speech and theater, Ms. Griesenbeck suffered a brain aneurysm Sunday morning and was airlifted to Iowa City for treatment. As was her wish, her family donated several of her organs, and she was taken off life support Tuesday morning.

"K.C. was above all else full of vitality and joy," Ron May, former choral director at Moline High, said Monday. "Her enthusiasm for whatever she did was contagious, and that is why her students loved her so. She could tap into their adolescent energy without fail." Continue reading
