South Lyon motorcyclist remembered as generous

Dennis “Bib” Crossley, Jr. died doing what he loved most – riding his Harley.

“He was an avid motorcyclist and probably rode more than 10 people combined,” his wife, Laurie Crossley, said last week. “He liked working on them and riding them. That was his passion.”

The South Lyon resident died Saturday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash Sept. 24 near downtown Milford.

According to police, Crossley was traveling “well above” the 25 mph posted speed limit on West Huron Street near Peters Road shortly before 11 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to round a bend in the road.

Witnesses told police the motorcycle hit a curb, causing both bike and rider to “flip several times.”

Milford Police Chief Tom Lindberg said alcohol appeared to be a “significant factor” in the accident and noted Crossley was not wearing a helmet. No other passengers were on the motorcycle when it crashed, and no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
