City workers ditch razors for a good cause

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) — City workers in Lackawanna are in for a hairy November, and it’s all for a good cause.

Around 130 police officers, Public Works employees, city hall workers, and fire fighters are participating in “No Shave November.”

The goal? Grow the thickest scruff they can to raise money and awareness.

Unlike traditional No Shave November, which benefits cancer research, the group is raising money for UNYTS, an organ donation and transplant agency.

All money raised is being donated in honor of Officer Danny Wilson, who died Jan. 2nd.

“Today what we’re going to do is turn a tragedy into something positive. Danny Wilson was one of our fine young officers who unfortunately lost his life at too young of an age due to some medical complications,” said Lackawanna Police Chief James Michel Monday afternoon.  Continue reading
