Every 10 minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list.
Around 21 people die every day because the organs they need are not donated in time.
But on Sunday those who have given the gift of life are being remembered in La Crosse. The Coulee Region Donor Remembrance Ceremony was held at the LHI building's Cargill Ballroom.
Family members honored their loved ones with other Coulee Region families who've been on the giving and receiving end of organ donation.
Dana Floberg received a kidney transplant when he was 21. He got share his experience and let donors' families know just how much the gift of life means to him.
"There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about my donor and the decision she made to be an organ donor," Floberg said.
