Sweden's Prince Daniel has spoken for the first time about the kidney transplant he underwent three months after becoming engaged to Princess Victoria.
"When the kidneys aren't working properly, the blood becomes poisoned," Daniel, 42, told the Swedish magazine Dagens Industri.
"Just a few hours after the transplant, I felt so clean and clear, it was amazing," said the prince, who was promoting health and entrepreneurship initiatives among underprivileged local youth.
Daniel, who met his wife while he was her personal fitness trainer, discovered he suffered from a congenital – but not hereditary – kidney disease as a teenager. Continue reading
