Army Vet, Pastor, Grandfather Receives Heart and Kidney Transplant

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- A pastor and an army veteran from Winston-Salem says he's lucky to spend this Christmas with his family!

In fact, 54-year-old Keith Overcash is feeling better than ever.

However, it took him 20 years to feel the way he does now!

In September, Overcash underwent 18 hours of surgery to get a new heart and a new kidney!

The surgery was the first of its kind at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Overcash says he hopes the surgery will change the way other people look at their own lives.

Overcash served 26 years in the U.S. Army.

He’s also a local pastor, a father, and a grandfather of seven children!
