AUSTIN, Texas — As you're driving down Capital of Texas highway, you'll notice all the tinsel and trinkets on the trees. It's a sign that it's Christmas in Austin.
But if you take a closer look, you'll see a tree that stands out from the rest.
A tree with a purpose, an idea Geri Dixon came up with one afternoon at lunch time.
The tree is decorated with green ribbons, the ribbon for organ donation. At the top of the tree is a sign that reads "My daughter Ashley needs a Kidney Donor."
Ashley has been battling kidney disease since birth and at 11 years old, she had a kidney transplant.
But in April of 2014 her kidney failed, and now she's on daily dialysis, a 10-hour process she undergoes every night that cleans out toxins and excess fluids. Continue reading
