WISH TV | Joe Mellilo

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — People will be paying tribute to fallen Indianapolis police officers by helping save lives Friday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers David Moore, Rod Bradway and Perry Renn are being honored with this annual blood drive that starts Friday morning.

At 9:30 a.m., City Market will be filled with volunteers ready to donate blood in their honor. The event, coordinated through the Indiana Blood Center, will help with the blood supply for patients at more than than 60 hospitals across the state. It’s hosted by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. The blood drive is named after officer David Moore.

While on duty, officer Moore was shot on Jan. 23, 2011. He died three days later. Officer Rod Bradway was shot and killed on the job in 2013. Officer Perry Renn was shot and killed while on duty in 2014.

Although Moore lost his life, he also gave others a second chance by donating his organs. Continue reading
