Family of organ donor ask others to become donors

ARDMORE, Okla. -- February 14 is not only Valentine's Day it is also National Donor Day.

Lauren Smith, 12, was killed in an ATV accident in August 2014. Her parents made the brave decision to donate her organs to someone in need and now they are asking others to sign up to be a donor.

Smith spent her days hunting and fishing with her dad, playing basketball and dress up and going to school.

"Lauren was one of those kids that everybody wanted," Lauren's mom Missy Smith said. "She did what she was told to do, she didn't talk back and she had a heart of gold."

Smith says even though Lauren is no longer here, her legacy lives on through others. Continue reading
