Give life through organ donation, one person can be a hero for seven

KJCT8 | Carly Moore

GRAND JUNCTION Deputy Derek Geer who was shot by a 17-year-old male Monday morning, has saved one last surprise for the people he has worked to protect his entire life.

Geer will continue to serve through organ donations; giving a second chance at life to people in our region.

Unselfish -- is the word that has been passed around the community about Deputy Geer's decision to donate his organs.

"The fact of humanity and were all just helping each other and it really just stands for how he is idolized in the community,” said Coral Dietrich.

"I think that everybody should do that because that's a very unselfish way to die,” said Grand Junction resident, Gary Boyd, "Whenever the loss of a life helps another life that's good thing."
