For one of their own

BARKER — The Donate Life Club at Barker High School is actively involved in promoting UNYTS blood drives and raising funds with an annual community walk each spring. UNYTS specializes in the delivery of donor-centered organ, tissue, eye and blood donation services to the Western New York community. It works in conjunction with community groups, donor hospitals, donors, recipients and their families to advance the Donate Life message.

The upcoming 3.5 mile fun walk/run at Barker school has a special purpose. Proceeds from this year’s event will be used to help cover the mounting medical expenses of Barker alumnus Kari Wolski Jones, class of 2005.

Jones, who now lives in Clover, S.C. and is a first-grade teacher at Elon Park Elementary School, is in need of a kidney donor and transplant to save her life. Continue reading
