Organ donation gave Nanuet woman new life

Roxanne Watson is a bundle of energy, considering her health history.

The Nanuet resident suffered from chronic, debilitating health issues for years until a doctor at Nyack Hospital correctly diagnosed the source of her problems: Her heart was giving out.

She spent five long months in a Manhattan hospital, waiting for a transplant, finally getting the perfect match from a donor known as “Michael.”

Six years later, she’s a vocal and active advocate not only for heart health and the prevention of heart disease — she’s a local coordinator for WomenHeart Support Network — more importantly, for organ donation. Continue reading
