Awareness Day Recognizes Organ Donors

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo

There are nearly 2,700 men, women and children, in Colorado alone, who are waiting on a life-saving organ transplant; nationally there are 124,000.

The sheer size of those numbers is why April is celebrated as National Donate Life Month; recognizing those who have already saved others lives through organ donation.

According to the Donor Alliance and Donate Life Colorado, of the current transplant candidates in Colorado, 16 percent have been on the waiting list for five years or longer. When it comes to age, 31 percent of those waiting for a transplant are under the age of 50. Continue reading VIDEO
