Braintree event to mark “Donate Life Month.”


BRAINTREE – Organ donors and recipients will share their stories at an event Monday morning at an event marking “Donate Life Month.”

The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Braintree Town Hall, 1 John F. Kennedy Memorial Drive.

Among the speakers will be Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-Boston), a living organ donor, and State Rep. Ed Coppinger (D-Boston), a living donor recipient. Also participating in the event will be Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan, Registrar of Motor Vehicles Erin Deveney and other individuals whose lives were touched by organ donation.

The month of April is Donate Life Month.

The purpose of the event is to encourage more people to register as organ donors.

The New England Organ Bank said that in 2015, 719 lives were saved in New England by organ donors. Thousands more lives were enhanced through the gift of tissue donations. Continue reading
