Gift of Life Reacts to Transplant Reunion Video

ABC 6 News) -- A video is gaining attention across the nation, showing a mother hearing her son's heartbeat for the first time since he was killed in a car accident in 2012. She's listening to his heart through the man who received it through organ donation.

Lisa Swanson and her son, Shelby Schultz, are shown meeting Terry Hopper for the first time. Terry received his heart transplant in December of 2012 from 18-year-old Levi Schultz.

ABC 6 News met one man, staying at the Gift of Life Transplant House, who shares what he'd like to say to the family of his lung donor.

"There's almost words that, is not enough to express the appreciation, but definitely the warmth and gratitude and recognizing their loss as well,” said Allen Watanabe.
