Loss of father brings Green Bay surgeon, former Miss Wisconsin to share organ donation story

April is National Donate Life Month.

Prevea Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Tina Sauerhammer, a Green Bay native and well-known in the community for her accomplishments starting at a young age, is very passionate about organ and tissue donation and used that as her platform while competing for Miss America after winning the Miss Wisconsin title in 2003.

Dr. Sauerhammer’s passion comes from the loss of her father and when she was part of the team of surgeons that completed the nation’s first full face transplant at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston in 2011.
