National Donate Life Month in the Islands


April is National Donate Life Month, an opportunity to celebrate our country’s organ, eye and tissue donors and to inspire more people to say yes to donation. Legacy of Life Hawaii celebrates National Donate Life Month in April with a series of events to honor donor heroes, support donor families, and stand with the nearly 121,000 Americans currently on the waiting list for an organ transplant.

In Hawaii alone, there are over 400 people waiting for life saving transplants, and thousands more across our nation are in need of life restoring tissue transplants. One donor alone can have a huge impact by helping more than 50 people.

This year Legacy of Life Hawaii offers the following events to celebrate National Donate Life Month by honoring our area’s organ and tissue donor heroes:

National Donate Life Month (NDLM) Proclamation Signings take place across the state with the governor and mayors of Oahu, Maui County, Kauai County and the County of Hawai`i:

April 1 – Maui Office of the Mayor 2:30 p.m.

April 4 – Oahu, Office of the Governor 11:00 a.m.

April 6 – Hilo, Office of the Mayor 10:00 a.m.

April 13 – Kauai, Office of the Mayor 3:00 p.m.
