NJ Sharing Network Hosts 5K Celebration of Life Event at Bergen Community College in Paramus

BERGEN DISPATCH | Paul Nichols

On Sunday, New Jersey Sharing Network hosted its annual 5K Celebration of Life Event at Bergen Community College in Paramus, NJ. The annual event to raise awareness for organ donation brought together thousands of walkers, runners and volunteers.

On hand for the annual event were Bergen County Executive James Tedesco, New Jersey Assemblyman Robert Auth and New Jersey State Senator Gerald Cardinale. Tedesco spoke of his wife Renee who died in 2009 of chronic lung disease. Tedesco told the crowd about how his wife Renee was the recipient of a double lung transplant which he said allowed her to see the birth of two grandchildren, something she would not have experienced without that transplant.

NJ Sharing Network is committed to saving and enhancing lives through the miracle of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. As a non-profit, federally designated organ procurement organization. NJ Sharing Network is responsible for the recovery of organs and tissue for the nearly 5,000 New Jersey residents currently awaiting transplantation. Continue reading
