Organ donation drive in full swing

SHOW LOW — People might not think about organ donation unless they know someone needing one. But Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center wants to remind people that organs aren’t available unless people volunteer their own organs upon their death.

On April 4 Summit Healthcare honored those who have died and gave this gift of life to others. CEO Ron McArthur encouraged organ donation with an annual flag-raising event in front of the hospital.

Members of the Donor Network of Arizona were present, including Bonnie Bolt, program development coordinator of the event. She said she was pleased to see people signing up inside the hospital’s entrance.

The event included a balloon release that had “Donate Life” emblazoned upon each balloon. Those balloons flew as the flag was raised.

Event participants noted that donations of organs, eyes and tissue are so important and can be a lifesaver to anyone who needs it. They added that there is no telling when someone might suddenly need one. Continue reading
