Organ donations provide bittersweet moments for families of donors

WICHITA, Kan. Hundreds of people across Kansas get a second chance at life thanks to organ donors. It's a bittersweet moment for many families, as the extension of life for some comes after another person dies.

Wichita mother Kristin Schieber says her daughter, Lucy, is a hero. She has exactly seven months of memories with Lucy to flip through.

Lucy was born with a birth defect in her brain. On the day she turned seven months-old, Lucy stopped breathing. Hours later, the infant was on life support and doctors told Kristin her daughter was brain dead.
